Miuccia Prada, currently American Vogue’s pioneering septuagenarian cover girl, was standing backstage after the Prada show, bedecked in emeralds and jade and looking slightly terrified as Emma Watson and hordes of well-wishers and journalists swarmed around her like locusts. Such is life when you transcend the role of designer and become more like a divining rod that indicates which way the cultural water is flowing. Toward “history,” she said as her co-creative director, Raf Simons, sipped Prosecco beside her. Or to be specific, toward the way history teaches us about where we are going. MILAN (AP) — Prada brought nature indoors as a backdrop for its 2024-25 fall and winter menswear collection meant to get humans outside. The new Prada collection, unveiled on the third day of Milan Fashion Week menswear previews Sunday, marked “the return of the seasons,’’ as a point of renewal of the spirit, co-creative director Miuccia Prada said backstage. Without falling into strict categories of office wear and outdoor wear, Prada said that the collection “was meant for going outside,” and spending time there, not just as a point of transit. Raf Simons, Prada’s co-creative director, said the collection referenced water in its many forms: the sea, rain, a stream, ice. Always political, the Prada collection references climate change, but without being explicit.

I thought pantyhose were dead, but now it seems as if they are being treated as the equivalent of actual pants. Are we really supposed to believe the pantyhose-instead-of-pants look I see on social media is going to be a trend? The fashion world became so attached to the End of Pantyhose that editors famously went to shows in February with bare legs and high heels, snow be damned. Then, in September 2022, Matthieu Blazy of Bottega Veneta sent a navy crew neck down his runway paired with only dark hose and heels. Just a few months later, Miuccia Prada largely tossed pants and skirts out the window in her Miu Miu show, subversively matching her librarian cardigans and beatnik polo necks with sheer hose and coordinating undies.

MILAN, March 9 (Reuters) - Italy's Prada said on Thursday it expects revenue growth to outpace rivals this year, after sales exceeded analyst expectations in 2022 thanks to a strong performance in Europe. "In 2023, we expect revenue growth to remain solid and above market average," Prada's new Chief Executive Andrea Guerra said in the statement, adding that China had started again to be "an engine of growth". Prada said net sales grew 63% in Europe with a strong performance across the region, sustained by local demand and an upturn in tourism throughout the year. Revenue growth in the Americas stood at 22% with a "normalisation" in the second half of last year. The growth in Asia Pacific was hit by the lockdowns in China, but the strong performance in South Korea and South East Asia helped to contain the decline.
